I agree completely.

I think that the JNIIMPORT and JNIEXPORT defines should stay for compatibility
with other implementations, but that they do not need to be used in libgcj
itself.

Right. Sounds good to me - go ahead and write up a patch to get rid of GCJ_JNI_IMPL etc, and I'll approve it if nobody else objects ;-)
