Thanks for OK'ing the patch. In light of your first reaction, I have
been attempting to come up with something better. I decided that I
would much rather be known as someone that removes hacks than someone
that adds them. ;-)
If I get to a point where I absolutely need to apply some form of my
first patch, then I will reform it to match your suggestions and only
apply it to mainline.
If I do come up with something radically different, then I will post
first.
