morestack.vis is generated by the makefile:
ifneq (,$(vis_hide))

# If we have -fvisibility=hidden, then we need to generate hide
# lists for object files implemented in assembly.
ASM_HIDDEN_OP = @asm_hidden_op@

define gen-hide-list
$(NM) -pg $< | \
  $(AWK) 'NF == 3 && $$2 !~ /^[UN]$$/ && $$3 !~ /.*_compat/ \
         && $$3 !~ /.*@.*/ \
         { print "\t$(ASM_HIDDEN_OP)", $$3 }' > $@T
mv -f $@T $@
endef
else
gen-hide-list = echo > $@
endif

If either the nm or awk is producing the incorrect output, the build might fail.
