FWIW, it was I who suggested gcc@ and not gcc-help@ because the
question was with regards to profiling of gcc (not with gcc).
Besides, I vaguely recall (right or wrong) there had been some
related work with reported results, which you perhaps didn't
find using your favorite search engine.

You have yet too few replies to make that conclusion, IMHO.
I'd suggest waiting a few days.
