The explanation for this is probably analog to
and the current set of configure cache variables you might have to
override can be found at
(there's one more missing for IRIX that I know of).
So a workaround would be to manually add
to $target/libstdc++-v3/config.cache, and then rerunning make.
This still needs to be fixed in an automatic way.
