It didn't for me, with texinfo 4.8, nor for the reporter of PR 35148, as
'make pdf' failed. I have not investigated the cause of that bug
further, but I suppose it's a texinfo issue (that maybe exists only in
some texinfo releases?)

Thanks. BTW, if it works, OK for trunk and 4.2? If that does not work,
then I will revert the breaking patch first thing tomorrow morning (UTC).
