Non-technical holdups. RMS is worried that this will make it too easy
to integrate proprietary code directly with GCC.
If proponents can come up with good arguments about how the plugin
project can be structured to avoid this risk, that would help.
I thought (from my memory and understanding of discussions at last GCC
summit in July 2O07 in Ottawa) that a major argument against this risk
is that there is no stability in the API offered by GCC to plugins.
So any proprietary plugin would be a nightmare to maintain...
