The patch involves some x86 back-end bits, which Honza has already
approved and some fixes to the vectorizer, which Dorit has mostly
approved (I am waiting on her approval for my last mail).
My plan is to submit the patch today with the changes Dorit has
recommended.
I may end up splitting it such that most of the patch makes it today and
one bug fix for the vectorizer makes it in stage 3.
