In particular, IMHO the commands to re-generate the configure scripts should be documented if the documentation also targets potential GCC contributors.
I agree, that sounds useful.  DJ, Alexandre, Paolo, what's your take
on this.  Any recommendations?

Patches are always welcome. :-)

Basile's proposal seems worthwhile.
