You might be joking but for GCC hacking I've personally found
Linux to be *far faster* and more reliable than Cygwin or MSYS
on the same machine. Even when building a native toolchain for
Windows (MinGW), I prefer building a crossed-native compiler
via Linux rather than a native compiler on Windows.
