Very cool.

We basically implemented second-order predictive commoning (quick overview can be found e.g. in http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~amaral/cascon/CDP04/slides/tal.pdf, or at the beginning of tree-predcom.c file).

When I originally ran across this work, I emailed the author about it. He mentioned that he/IBM had filed for several patents on the work. I haven't corresponded with him since then, but it may be working checking out.
