The trouble with including old-gcc like that is that old-gcc (GCC2)
development continued for a couple of years after EGCS started. So the
versions in old-gcc up to the snapshot from which EGCS started could
reasonably count as going immediately before version 1.1 of the EGCS
files, but subsequent versions in old-gcc either couldn't be included in
this way or would need to be transformed into a branch (separate, of
course, from the vendor branch in the current repository into which some
versions of old-gcc were imported and which appears in the svn
repository as branches/gcc3).
