Re: how to submit binary file for inclusion?

I find that I have a need for submitting (in what would normally be a
patch) a binary file (since there's no open source or sufficiently
wide-spread tool available to generate it). Since including this in a
patch doesn't work, how would I go about doing this?

Just submit it as a separate attachment. However, it is unlikely to be accepted without a very good explanation.

Also, keep in mind that one of the clauses of the GPL defines source code as the preferred form of the work for making modifications. So if you are contributing a file that was produced by a utility, then we also need the input file for that utility. Even if we don't have a copy of that utility program.
