Phil,
Excellent point! In the actual Makefile, the "#" is escaped out as:
grep -v '^\#' /export/home........
I think you are right that it sees "#" a bit early and comments out the whole
line.
However, I replaced the whole grep command with "5:0:0" and got the same
error in the same place. So I am totally lost now. I included the error once
more in my last message to Eric & the list. I'll not post it here to keep the
volume down.
Any suggestions?
