There's already a free compiler for Erlang. If you're talking about
someone building a new compiler for Erlang from scratch using the gcc
back end, I don't think anyone has tried that (and they would have to
start from scratch, as the Erlang license is GPL-incompatible .. it is
basically the MPL, as in Mozilla).
I don't see the point of such an effort; there is already a
production-quality free (as in free software / open source) compiler.
