Overriding DW_AT_comp_dir output?

Is there a way to do this? It would make the comparision on bootstrap
sooo much easier....
Alternatively, what would people think of making the bootstrap comparison
using .o files stripped of debug information?
The need to build each stage in exactly the same directory layout is evil
and is the main obstacle to moving bootstrap to the top level.
