However, calling the GFDL a "free" license is an act of dishonesty,
hypocrisy, or perhaps simply extreme incompetence.
It is simply an act of not following your views on the subject. The
GCC Manual has had invariant sections for a decade or more, long
before the GFDL was written. The GFDL simply states the practice in a
general way, making it possible to merge text from manuals which
previously had different ad-hoc licenses.
You are entitled to disagree with our policies, but if you want to
argue against them, please use the list gnu-misc-discuss@gnu.org, not
the GCC technical discussion list.
