Duh ! I hope no-one gets from the messages about this subject that some sort of decision was made at the GCC Summit.


We were just discussing options. One of them I offered was that GNU make is more portable than makefiles themselves. I said that because I have first-hand experience using make and GNU make on such varied platforms like Cray (both T3{D|E} and "classic"), Fujitsu VPP700/5000, NEC SX{4|5|6} - platforms most GNU "volunteers" do not have access to.
