My suggestion for a gcc compile speed test would be gtkmm2. It takes 4
minutes to build on a P4 2800. Unfortunately it depends on libsig++ (which
takes less than 30 seconds to build). You need gtk+2 and glib2 installed.
If you compiled both of these it would be a good C++ test, especially as
these programs use templates quite a bit.
