That's good to know. :-)

This will cause people to get password mail if this is their first bug
submission, so maybe something should be on the news page or (sent to
gcc-announce) or something so it's not a complete surprise and cause
for mass hysteria.

Yes, gcc-announce seems a good place to publish that (and later also on the main page).

Would you mind crafting a draft of what we could send to gcc-announce?

"GCC is currently in the process of switching our bug tracking system from Bugzilla to GNATS. During this process, you may receive email from gcc-bugzilla at gcc dot gnu dot org about new accounts being created, or successful submissions to the gcc bug system. This is not spam, and should be considered normal."

Assuming no problems, at the middle of next week (wednesday), i'll do
the final gnats conversion, and we'll cut the gnats processing out of
the mail aliases.
At this point, i'll update the user-facing web pages to say Bugzilla
rather than GNATS everywhere, and the reporting instructions.

This sounds like a good plan, and (in case it's needed) I'll be available
all of next week up to Friday afternoon (morning you time) for web pages
Apache config, and in the worst case (though Chris is king there) root
issues on gcc.gnu.org.

So, perhaps switching on Tuesday might be preferrable (though Chris is
probably more important to have available than me)?

Works for me.

I'm still ready to go, unless Mark vetos it.

Someone should currently change the gcc-gnats mail alias to run the /www/gcc/bugzilla/contrib/bug_email.pl script (ignoring errors) in addition to the current script it runs now.
