Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your message.
It seems to me that the question of whether the GCC maintainers are
interested in considering additional warnings and the question of
whether they are interested in a rewrite of the warnings framework are
independent questions.
While I think that a rewrite, if done right, would be a good thing, I
can also live with the current system.
I *would* like to both contribute back those EMC changes that I think
would be generally useful and reduce the size of the patch that I need
to maintain and "merge" whenever we pick up a new release.
