- Subject: Help on installing gcc 3.2
I have a small SUN sparc system and would like to try your c compiler
(gcc-g++-3.2.tar.gz) on a class project. The school supplied a broken
windows based compiler that no one can make work. I want to be the only
one who compiles and runs on a UNIX platform! I am
compiling/building/running the Towers of Hanoi for a c familiarization
course. Although I have SA experience, your site and install
instructions are very heavy in programmer speak. Is there a dumb down
version for the "never written code in his life" group? I tried just
using the cc command on my SUN box and was told the optional package was
not installed, so I looked into your compiler. I have down loaded
gcc-g++-3.2.tar.gz, unzipped it and untared it. If that is all I need
to do, what directory do I need to put the gcc-3.2 directory into? Is
there a SUN package I could use instead? Am I missing the "install"
command somewhere? Thanks for your help!
