Assembling and linking the assembly file you attached on AIX works
correctly. There are known problems with GNU ld for AIX and using GCC's
collect2 in a cross environment which may be causing this failure.
If having a GNU toolchain cross-development environment for AIX is
important to your work, you company should communicate this to your IBM
representative. Also, GNU toolchain support companies like CodeSourcery
and Red Hat can be contracted to deliver a complete toolchain for AIX in a
cross environment.
