Well... Having used autoconf/automake only _once_ myself, I can tell
that it's quite hard to work with it. I've not really understood its
concepts, I've not really found good/comprehensive documentation.

Even a _mentioned_ script helping to get the beginning right wasn't
exactly easy to find. If there was more documentation available showing
experienced programmers (and Makefile writers) how to use it would be
an enormeous advantage...

So for these days, I only use the './configure' part of it, no real clue
of how to create all the macros around it...
