Hi gcc, I am new to this but required to upgrade GCC version 2.96 to 3.x to compile a new application. I am using RH 7.1 Kernel 2.4.17 I followed all the steps in your install docs on your web site. All seemed to compile and install ok!! SRCDIR = /usr/lib/gcc-3.1 OBJDIR=/usr/lib/gcc3.1-lib All other variables left as default. make bootstrp-lean make install gcc -v report gcc v2.96 not the 3.1 I have installed. Using builtin specs. gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-81) using glibc-2.2.2-10 downloaded gcc-3.1.tar.gz Is this installer meant to configure linux to use the new compilers? Any help appreciated. Thanks Gary Smith
