debugging info formats

Is it possible to have gcc generating debugging information for Sun's dbx ?
The target platform is sparc-solaris8 in 64bit mode.
Gdb does not support 64bit mode on sparc-solaris8 (yet?) so I am trying to
have gcc generating debugging information readable by Sun's dbx.
So far I did not succeed.
Someone has hints? Or any other working solution?
Any info appreciated.
