If anyone edits code with 4-column tabs so that comments to the right of
the code line up, then the formatting will break when viewed with 8-column
tabs. Other kinds of layout styles (e.g. indenting the declarator after
the declaration specifiers, right-aligning backslashes in multi-line
macro definitions) can also break when you do this. It can only work well
with a very carefully specified layout style.
Tony.
