- Subject: Updated: Benchmarks gcc 3.0.4 (soon 3.1) vs. Intel C++ 6.0
After some morning tests and comparisons, I've updated the comparison of
Intel C++ 6.0 and gcc 3.0.4 with new compile-time options for the later.
What produced the fastest code for my tests was:
gcc -O3 -funroll-all-loops -fomit-frame-pointer -ffast-math -march=i686
I also tried several other options (listed in the updated article) which did
not seem to improve gc's performance.
With the new options, gcc performs much better on some tests.
