- Subject: Distributing new GCC releases on ftp.gnu.org -- conventions
It is fine to create a subdirectory for each release since they are made
of many files, but you should also symlink the main .tar.gz file in
/home/ftp/gnu/gcc; this has the advantage of showing the changelogs
on the GNU web site at http://www.gnu.org/server/new-software.html,
and is also consistent with other packages. I've already created
such a symlink for GCC 3.0.1, 3.0.2 and 3.0.3.
