	Because that is not "the state" to which I am refering.  We had a
long discussion about this back in March

The problem is fragments like

cat >> confdefs.h <<\EOF
#define HAVE_FMODF 1
EOF

instead of using

echo "#define HAVE_FMODF 1" >> confdefs.h


The thread discussed solutions, but nothing ever was implemented.
