I am not defending my patch as brilliant or elegant! :^)
In the 32-bit host -> 64-bit target mode of AIX on a 32-bit
system, GCC essentially is a cross-compiler, so I am hoping that whatever
solution is implemented for GCC cross-compiling will work for AIX as
well. I do not know if Stephen Webb's patch fixes this or not. I would
really appreciate some solution for gcc-3.0.1.
