Benefit of "-fforce-mem"/"-fforce-addr" options?

Hello.

In the documentation of "gcc version 2.95.3-4 (cygwin special)" the
"-fforce-mem" and "-fforce-addr" descriptions contain this comment:

"I am interested in hearing about the difference this makes."

Well, is there a consensus yet on the benefits, if any, that these options
provide to i686 code generation/performance? How about i586 code?

Thank you.
