gcc-2.96-RH latest + binutils latest + glibc latest is known good
combination (which I use for sparc64 glibc work).

This would be easiest if you submitted a GNATS bug report with preprocessed
printf_fphex.i together with options used (or if you manage to cut it down
into a smaller testcase, the better).
