Some of that web page is incorrect, at least for the version shipped with
7.0. Because ADDRESSOF was broken, C++ code was substantially SLOWER, not
faster, than 2.95.2 (the Stepanov test sucked rocks). There were a number
of other problems as well.
The most severe of these (including the performance regressions) have
since been patched, but the gcc version that was shipped with 7.0 was not
production quality. What Red Hat is shipping now is reasonable.
