There are over a thousand warnings when bootstrapping
alphaev6-unknown-linux-gnu of the form:
1339 passing arg ??? of \`???' with different width due to prototype

I don't remember seeing these before, and I'm wondering what they're about.
I'm running Red Hat 6.0 with updates to various things, especially
glibc-2.1.3.
