I can't tell right now from memory, but AFAIR I first got the known 'doesn't
support conditionally defining libgcj_la_LDFLAGS' and then later on when
running configure after gcc had been built I got tons of 
something like 'doesn't support ... file in subdirectory'. 

I'll get back with a detailed bug report as soon as I have access again to
the machine where my CVS tree and build directory are tomorrow.
