Or even *more* supported languages (like one that will actually be
included in GCC 3.0):

[ This must be one of the many disadvantages of the dominance of Unix;
People assume that "system programs" *have* to be written in C.
Obviously, if you ever admin'd a VMS system, you would know better:
Removing the (shared) BASIC Run Time Library, BASRTL.EXE, would
actually cripple your system - although it would still boot, IIRC ]
