Could we consider moving, after 3.0, to Linux-kernel-style version numbers
- defining 3.1, 3.3, etc. as being development versions, with 3.0, 3.2,
3.4, etc. as (pre-)releases - to make it clearer, if anyone in future
decides to stabilise a development version and use it in released software
distributions, that it is not a version released by the GCC project?
