How would it know that it ought not be able to compile something that compiles
and works 100% correctly? By ESP?

Would you mind using more respectful terminology? PCC is not broken, it just
deliberately chooses to implement a different version of the language (one
compatible with its predecessor, Ritchie's original compiler) than the one you
have deliberately chosen to implement (ISO C).
