Did you note the instructions which must be up somewhere (no, I can't
get to gcc.gnu.org myself) about how you need to install a running
pre-built version of gcc (e.g. for Windows use the install button at
http://sourceware.cygnus.com/cygwin ) before you can build the source?
That button gives you check boxes to get specific matching source
versions for the binary components when you so choose, and that site
gives FAQ's and mailing lists for that specific variant of gnu Windows
software. And do find those buttons in your Windows software (e.g.
"plain text") which assist in making your posts readable outside
Windows, even if they aren't so pretty inside Windows. Where html is
wanted, that too is wanted in a generic format, not a Microsoft-specific
one. There's an FAQ I haven't seen anywhere, but, perhaps, if the
information were readily available, we wouldn't be fouling these basic
presentation issues so often. One I don't know the answer for, is how
to know when an organization billing itself as a linux only shop will
refuse to accept e-mail in anything but Microsoft Word format. Yes, it
happens.

Subject: PROBLEM INSTALLING
Hi all
I have just downloaded GCC for my windows computer but I am having
difficulty installing it.
My first problem is I don't understand the instruction on the web site,
does anyone know where I can get a simpler instruction manual.
Best wishes
