I have no strong opinion. I'm happy to install whatever I need to
install. If there are tools we use that aren't very portable, we
might need to make the appropriate generated files available in CVS.
I don't think Bruce's scheme will lead to the kind of issues we've
been fighting with this stuff, and it will let us test out the
configury bits that we will need in the snapshots.
Having created the havoc, I'll now disappear into the woodwork...
