Mark,
I support your decision to keep the primary list small for the reasons
you've outlined. I think its a fair tradeoff between perfection vs.
time-until-release.
I'd like to respond to your request for more secondary platforms. :-)
I nominate:
1. SPARC SunOS4 sparc-sun-sunos4.1.4
This platform is still in use, and gives good testing of sparc beyond
what solaris does. It tests some older BSDisms, it also tests sjlj EH
(which I think perhaps none of the primary ones do?) Finally its cc
also tests K&R compatibility for stage1 which gcc is supposed to
support.
