Hmm, I don't think that's completely fair:
a) Three out of seven primary platforms are Linux, two even from the
same vendor, and two on the same hardware platform.
b) Not a single free system apart from Linux is considered a primary
platform, even though many (most?) free systems use GCC as their
system compiler.
(Note that I'm not worried about a strong emphasis on Linux per se,
after all GCC is about free software!)
c) The explanation reads "The targets chosen represent both the most
popular operating systems and the most popular microprocessors", yet
I am quite confident that mips-sgi-irix, but especially hppa-hpux
are not really as popular as i386-unknown-freebsdelf (though, of
course, the processor range among the more popular ones).
