Well, the premier problem is that I, in my *real* job, do not need BLAS
[n]or LAPACK (those who think that all computational physics problems
can be reduced to an exercise in solving linear systems - BZZZZZZZZT,
thank you for playing).  No, I do not think that either Jonathan or
Mumit believe this :-)

I think LAPACK is a useful package to test the compiler (because of its
test and timing programs).  However, I've no opinions on its intrinsic
"optimality" :-)

I've downloaded it in the past, because I found the idea promising, but
never got around trying it, sorry ...
