Mark,
I've just read trought your release criteria document, and I much apprechiate
it. It is really great to see some process forward to the release, since I was
affraid from it being too late. One question I have about the code quality
criteria, perhaps we can base them on the benchmark suite. Last week I've done
some work on it including exprimental site running periodic benchmarking after
each cvs checkin. Also I've reduced significantly the running time that was
inacceptably long after Marc's Lehman's changes and increased somewhat the
reliability based on the ideas from MHZ program library and by supporting the
rdsc and similar instructions. I will cleanup these changes and checkin soon,
since I am maitainer (together with Marc).
Perhaps we can work together on making this suite usable for release criteria.
It contains number of small tests so it is quite easy to figure out whats wrong
and yet I believe it is superrior in testing to the gzip/stephanov benchmark
(at least it include stephanov benchmark and many pieces of code similar to
gzip) It is also able to do comparisons in code length etc.
Just an idea,
Honza
