This is also my experience when gcc is 2.95.2. The other ordeal of
fire is compiling the glibc and this I didn't try (I heard it fails).

About GCC changing I was not speaking of gcc 2.95.2 going to gcc 3 or gcc
2.96 (major steps) but to 2.95.3 (bug fixes). Is 2.95.3 on the verge of being
released?
The main concern among the Project Independence Team is the stability
of the gcc 2.95.2 compiler for use in our distribution. Therefore we
turn to the maintainers of gcc and this list for advice on it's use.
We would like to include in our efforts any enhancements and advantages
the gcc 2.95.2 compiler system could possibly bring. However if gcc is
( in the near future ) about to move to fix any potential bugs and
release a bug fix version (2.95.3??) we will consider waiting and use
the new version, if not possibly fall back to the egcs 1.1.2 compiler
we originally used on our past releases.
