I think we should provide the link. If nothing else, people can still
use the binaries to bootstrap the current version.
Simultaneously, it might be worthwhile to ask whoever is in charge of
these CD-ROMs to provide an update.
I've CC'ed this message to gnu@gnu.org, so if you read it at this
address, here is the issue: On the gcc mailing list, people frequently
ask for binary versions of GCC and related tools. We'd like to
advertise the FSF binary distribution, as fund-raising is an important
activity. However, we can't seriously recommend the current binaries
(5th edition), as they are almost two years old.
It would be good if you'd consider producing a new set of CD-ROMs. I'm
sure many people at the GCC list would be willing to contribute
binaries. As an improvement over the 5th edition, it seems that a
win32-targetted distribution would be especially valuable.
