Mingw32 and JNI

I'm having trouble(more trouble I should say) with the java JNI headers and Mingw32. It's all centered around something(a function, I think) called "__declspec". I have a stinking suspicion it's a VC++ name that should be "__attribute__" for GCC, but I don't know what "__attribute" is, either. Pleaseohpleaseohplease help...
