cannot use -dv debugging option

hi,
I downloaded vcg and compiled successfully. When I tried to compiled the test program given in the web page as
gcc -c -da -dv test.c
compiler complains
cc1: warning: unrecognized gcc debugging option: v
can somebody help me? how is the support added for vcg?
Here is my gcc -v o/p
gcc -v
Reading specs from /home/rajukv/egcs/lib/gcc-lib/i586-ncr-sysv4.3.03/egcs-2.91.60/specs
gcc version egcs-2.91.60 19981201 (egcs-1.1.1 release)
