I just tried core+g++ on an alpha-dec-osf4.0b and i386-unknown-freebsd2.2.8
It looks like the packaging is not decorrelated. Without great knowledge of
what is going on here, I'd say that perhaps the new localization code from
gcc2 was not written with drop in distributions in mind (?).
